Globally, people spent 7.7 million hours tuning into LinkedIn Learning content in April – nearly 3x the amount in February and 2x the amount in March. In the UK specifically, more than 198,000 hours of LinkedIn Learning content was watched in April – a 68% increase compared to March.

LinkedIn’s Workforce Confidence Index explored motivations for online learning and found that 65% of workers in the UK are learning to ‘advance in their career’, and 38% are ‘learning to change career path’.

LinkedIn’s data also shows that in March and April viewing time increased by 86%, compared to January and February. People who work in Recreation & Travel, Real Estate, Consumer Goods, Energy & Mining, and Manufacturing have increased the time spent viewing content the most.

In April, over 10x as many people watched mindfulness and stress management courses courses on LinkedIn Learning compared to February, and “remote working” searches have tripled since January as both employees and managers increasingly look for advice on how to navigate the challenges of working remotely and managing a remote workforce.

The top 5 most watched courses on LinkedIn in the UK are: 1) The Six Morning Habits of High Performers; 2) Time Management: Working from Home; 3) Remote Work Foundations; 4) Learning Zoom; 5) Microsoft Teams Essential Training

Namrata Murlidhar, Director at LinkedIn Learning said: “We continue to see people investing time in their personal growth and professional development by learning relevant new skills. This could be to help them develop skills to be successful in their existing role, or reskill entirely to find new opportunities in different functions or industries in the future as people see changes to their current employment situation.”

“Learning can be done from anywhere, and can help people keep stimulated and focused during this uncertain time. It also helps build confidence, which enables people to be great at their job today and open doors to new opportunities tomorrow. Popular courses on the platform include how to keep productive and motivated while working from home, as well as learning how to improve wellness and reduce stress levels.”

LinkedIn has opened up over 275 learning courses in 7 languages to help people continue investing in their development, no matter what their circumstances. With courses for job seekers, SMBs, talent professionals, business leaders and anyone wanting to manage stress, there is something available for everyone.
