Job Description: Quality Control Inspector

Temping Agency is partnering with leading manufacturing, engineering, and logistics firms in the Huddersfield HD1 area to recruit diligent and experienced Quality Control Inspectors. This is a critical role ensuring products and components meet stringent quality standards before they reach the customer or the next stage of production.

If you have a keen eye for detail, a methodical approach, and experience in a production or warehouse environment, we want to hear from you. By registering with Temping Agency, you gain access to exclusive last-minute placements and a streamlined path to securing ongoing work with reputable local employers. Much like our successful placements for warehouse jobs in Edinburgh, we specialise in connecting skilled professionals with businesses that need reliable talent fast.

Core Responsibilities & Duties

  • Conduct thorough visual and dimensional inspections of manufactured parts, assemblies, or finished goods using precision measuring instruments like callipers, micrometres, and gauges.
  • Perform first-off, in-process, and final inspections in line with company quality plans and ISO standards, documenting all findings accurately.
  • Identify, quarantine, and report non-conforming products, raising quality alerts and supporting root cause analysis with production teams.
  • Maintain detailed inspection records, certificates of conformity, and quality data logs for full traceability and audit purposes.
  • Collaborate closely with production supervisors, light industrial staff, and warehouse teams to implement corrective actions and prevent recurrence of defects.
  • Calibrate and maintain inspection equipment, ensuring all tools are within their certification period and fit for purpose.
  • Support internal and external audit processes, demonstrating compliance with quality management systems.

Essential Skills & Experience Required

  • 1 Proven experience as a Quality Control Inspector, Quality Technician, or similar within manufacturing, engineering, or FMCG.
  • 2 Proficiency in using basic and advanced measuring equipment (Vernier, Micrometre, Height Gauges, CMM operation is a bonus).
  • 3 Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and geometric tolerancing (GD&T).
  • 4 Strong understanding of quality control principles and familiarity with ISO 9001 standards.
  • 5 Excellent attention to detail and a methodical, process-driven approach to work.
  • A Formal qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a Quality discipline (e.g., NVQ, HNC, CQI Certificate).
  • B Experience with digital quality management systems and inspection software.
  • C Knowledge of industry-specific standards (e.g., Aerospace AS9100, Automotive IATF 16949).
  • D Internal Auditor training or experience.
  • High level of integrity and responsibility – you are the final gatekeeper for product quality.
  • Strong communication skills to provide clear, constructive feedback to production operatives and management.
  • Proactive problem-solver who can work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable, punctual, and adaptable to different client sites and processes across Huddersfield.

Frequently Asked Questions

We are looking for candidates with proven hands-on experience in a quality inspection role within manufacturing, engineering, or a similar sector. Essential experience includes using measuring equipment, reading technical drawings, and understanding quality processes. While formal qualifications are beneficial, practical experience is highly valued. If you have transferable skills from a precision-based role, we encourage you to apply and discuss this with our consultant.

Many of our Quality Control Inspector placements begin as temporary assignments to cover peak demand or staff absence. However, a significant number offer a clear temp-to-perm pathway. Clients often use temporary placements as an extended working interview. If you demonstrate the right skills, attitude, and reliability, there is a strong chance of being offered a permanent contract directly with the client. We are transparent about the potential of each role from the outset.

Our client sites are primarily located on Huddersfield's major industrial and trading estates, such as Leeds Road Trading Estate, St. Andrew's Road, and sites in Bradley. We also have opportunities with employers in nearby areas like Leeds, Brighouse, and Dewsbury. Your dedicated consultant will discuss the specific location, travel requirements, and any potential travel allowances for each role before you are placed.

Our process is designed to be fast and straightforward. After you apply, we'll call you for a brief telephone screening. If suitable, we'll invite you for a face-to-face or video registration interview at our office or a convenient location. This involves verifying your right to work, discussing your experience, and completing necessary paperwork. We may also discuss other relevant roles, such as positions for Call Centre Operators or Housekeeping Staff if you're interested in flexible options. The entire process can often be completed within 24-48 hours for urgent starts.

Yes. While specific job training is usually provided by the client, Temping Agency offers comprehensive support to all our workers. This includes thorough Health & Safety inductions, guidance on professional conduct, and pay/contractual support. We also provide access to relevant training courses where appropriate. Our ongoing support is a key differentiator; your consultant is your point of contact for any queries while on assignment. For more on how we operate, you can read our about us page.
