Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties

As a Construction Site Cleaner, your primary objective is to ensure the site remains clean, tidy, and safe for all personnel. This involves a variety of physical tasks that are essential for site operations.

• General Site Tidying: Sweeping and clearing work areas, corridors, stairwells, and site cabins of dust, off-cuts, and packaging materials. This prevents trip hazards and allows trades to work efficiently.
• Waste Management: Segregating construction waste into correct skips (e.g., general waste, wood, metal, plasterboard) as per site environmental policies. Ensuring waste points are accessible and not overflowing.
• Deep Cleaning of Communal Areas: Thorough cleaning of site toilets, welfare cabins (including kitchens), and changing facilities. This includes mopping, sanitising surfaces, emptying bins, and restocking supplies like soap and toilet paper.
• Post-Trade Cleaning: Performing specific cleans after trades have completed their work. For example, vacuuming dust after sanding, washing down surfaces after plastering, or removing adhesive residue after flooring is laid.
• External Area Maintenance: Keeping site entrances, parking areas, and pedestrian pathways free from mud, litter, and ice (in winter). This is crucial for site presentation and public safety.
• Tool and Equipment Care: Basic cleaning of shared site equipment and tools, ensuring they are stored correctly after use to prevent damage or loss.
• Ad-hoc Support: Assisting with site set-up or strip-down, moving light materials, and supporting the site manager with other reasonable duties to ensure project timelines are met.

What We're Looking For (Requirements & Skills)

To be successful in this role, you don't necessarily need formal qualifications, but you must possess the right attitude, physical capability, and awareness for a construction environment.

• Proven Experience: Previous experience in a similar role as a construction cleaner, industrial cleaner, or in a physically demanding light industrial setting is highly advantageous.

• Reliability & Punctuality: Construction sites run on tight schedules. We need candidates who can be relied upon to start on time, every time, and complete shifts as agreed.
• Physical Fitness: The role involves lifting, bending, sweeping, and being on your feet for most of the day. You must be physically capable of handling the demands of the job.
• Initiative & Teamwork: The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as cooperatively with other cleaners and site tradespeople.
