Core Responsibilities & Duties
- Access Control & Monitoring: Managing entry and exit points for staff, visitors, and contractors using both manual registers and digital systems. Conducting bag searches and vehicle checks as per site protocol.
- Patrols & Incident Reporting: Conducting regular internal and external patrols of the premises to deter and detect suspicious activity. Maintaining meticulous, clear logbooks and incident reports using provided digital devices or paper-based systems.
- CCTV & Alarm System Operation: Monitoring CCTV feeds actively, identifying potential security breaches, and responding to alarm activations in a calm and procedural manner. Liaising with emergency services when required.
- Customer Service & Conflict De-escalation: Providing a professional, helpful presence. Engaging with the public, staff, and tenants diplomatically. Using verbal communication skills to de-escalate potential conflicts before they escalate, adhering to SIA guidelines.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensuring the security booth and patrol areas are safe and hazard-free. Understanding basic fire safety procedures and acting as a point of contact during emergency evacuations.
- Asset Protection: Protecting client property from theft, damage, or misuse. This may include monitoring high-value stock areas in retail settings or securing equipment on construction sites.
Essential Requirements & Qualifications
- Valid Frontline SIA Licence: A current Security Guarding or Door Supervisor licence is mandatory. Please have your licence number ready for verification.
- Right to Work in the UK: Must be able to provide original, acceptable documents as per UK law (e.g., passport, biometric residence permit).
- Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in English, both verbally and in written reports.
- Reliability & Punctuality: A proven track record of reliability. Shift work often depends on you being on time to allow for proper handovers.
- Physical Fitness: Capable of standing for long periods, walking patrol routes, and occasionally dealing with physically demanding situations.
- 5-Year Checkable History: Ability to provide a detailed work/address history for the last five years for background screening purposes.
Desirable but not always essential: First Aid at Work certificate, previous experience in a similar environment (retail, corporate, logistics), and a full UK driving licence for roles involving multi-site patrols.
